Kazakhstan continues to invest in the long-term development of the Middle Corridor.

For Azurite, the development of the Caspian cluster is a direct operational priority. With an active office at the Port of Aktau, we work daily within the Caspian segment of the Middle Corridor and closely follow how infrastructure investments shape real logistics capacity on the ground. In this context, Kazakhstan’s decision to invest KZT 47.6 billion into a new container hub at the Port of Aktau marks an important step in strengthening East–West connectivity.

The container hub, developed within the Aktau SEZ in partnership with China’s Lianyungang Port Group, is being built in phases. The first facilities are already operational, the second phase is nearing completion, and full capacity of 240,000 TEU per year is expected by 2026.

In parallel, the expansion of the Sarzh marine terminal at the Port of Kuryk further reinforces the Caspian corridor with additional capacity for general, bulk, liquid, and containerized cargo.

Together, these projects enhance the reliability and scalability of the Caspian route, reinforcing the Middle Corridor as a viable, resilient alternative for multimodal transport between China, Central Asia, and Europe — and creating a stronger operational environment for companies working directly within the region.
